Julia Rexford

Traveler, Photographer, Writer, & Trip Over-Planner

This is the page where I brag about myself so that Google thinks I have actual authority to talk about traveling (I’mma be perfectly honest with you… I started my blog because I am so BAD at traveling!!!).

What I am good at is photography. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in photography from Indiana Wesleyan University, and I worked for 7 1/2 years as a professional photo editor for a national clothing company.

I am also good at over-planning…err… researching trips! In fact, I could probably write blog posts about a bunch of other countries, simply from all the research I’ve done! However, I only write about places I have personally visited. That way, I know all the questions I had when trip planning, and I know all the mistakes I made (or almost made), so I can give the absolute best advice to help you plan your trip!

I try to write blog articles that answer all the questions I personally had, and provide you with as much detail as possible, so that each article I write will be a one-stop guide to everything you need to know!

That’s why when I get comments like these, it makes my heart so happy!!! This is exactly why I blog:

My blog articles come from hours upon hours of research, personal experience, and talking with local experts. I hope I can help you plan a trip with as little stress as possible!

Places I know too much about:

To further toot my own horn, I’m going to call out several destinations on which I am particularly knowledgeable:

  • Disney World-I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to Disney World (actually I can—13). My whole family is obsessed. I’ve been to Disney for special events (eg: Disney Princess Run), during holidays (pro tip: DON’T visit during Christmas!), in the middle of a tropical storm (Tropical Storm Julia, as it were), and in pretty much every season possible. Needless to say, I know A LOT about Disney.

  • Western NY-This beautiful part of the United States is home to some of the country’s best state parks, most unique museums, and me! I have been to Niagara Falls so many times it doesn’t even phase me (just kidding, it’s still uber impressive!). The same goes for one of my absolute favorite places on earth: Letchworth State Park. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been to each (still less than Disney World, I think…)

  • Gilmore Girls-Trust me when I say I know everything there is to know about Gilmore Girls related travel destinations. From towns that look like Stars Hollow to how to visit New Haven like a Gilmore Girl, I have been all over, looking for anywhere that has anything to do with my favorite TV show!

  • Books-This is a weird flex (as my Gen Z co-worker says), but I am proud to be a nerd! As such, I can say that I am also an authority on reading. I love reading books (and watching movies) that take place somewhere before I visit. I also love reading books (and watching movies) about places I have yet to visit! I have reading lists (and watch lists) for all of my planned trips (which are a lot). So I think you should know, Google, that when I make a list of books to read before visiting the UK, I mean business! And when I post a nerdy article, like Harry Potter Places to Visit in the UK, or How to Throw a Hobbit Party, it’s because I am a bona fide fan, and I know what I’m talking about.

Places I’ve Been Featured

I wanted to call this section “Further Proof that I Know What I’m Talking About,” but to appease Google, I think I should probably stick to the more professional title of “Places I’ve Been Featured.”

I was lucky enough to be a guest on another traveler’s podcast, which also led me to be a featured traveler on yet another blogger’s social media pages. Here are some of the brands I have worked with:

That seems like enough bragging for now. Though of course, if you ever want to know more about me (or have me awkwardly chat on your podcast!), don’t hesitate to email me.
