As a huge Gilmore Girls fan, I have traveled all over in search of towns that feel like Stars Hollow, and real life settings (like New Haven) from the show.

I have also accumulated quite the collection of Gilmore Girls themed merch, whether for photo props, or just because of my unhealthy obsession with the show. So if you too have a loved one who is unhealthily obsessed (or you are the one who is obsessed!), here is a guide for all the best Gilmore Girls gift ideas, full of things that I absolutely love (or would love to have)!

Gilmore Girls Cookbooks

The first thing(s) I want to put on this Gilmore Girls gift guide is my favorite GG thing I own! It’s even one of my favorites of all my cookbooks (and I have eleven themed cookbooks…).

Eat Like a Gilmore Cookbook

The original Gilmore Girls cookbook is called Eat Like a Gilmore, by Kristi Carlson. I absolutely fell in love with it when I found it on one of my friends’ bookshelves, and obviously added it to my wedding registry as a necessary household item for adult life.

Some of the recipes in this cookbook are just for fun… (the Santa burger, for one). But some are so delicious, like the scones, which are my go-to any time I attend a breakfast or host afternoon tea. I absolutely love this cookbook, and I assure you any Gilmore Girls fan will too (even if they cook like Lorelai).

Eat Like a Gilmore: Daily Cravings

The original cookbook was so popular, they made a second one: Eat Like a Gilmore: Daily Cravings, which I also own and love. This includes classics like homemade Pop-Tarts!

Eat Like a Gilmore: Seasons

Two cookbooks still wasn’t enough, so they made a third one with recipes from the Netflix revival: Eat Like a Gilmore: Seasons. This is the only one I don’t personally own… so I should probably add it to my own wish list (although 12 themed cookbooks might be a bit much…).

Talking As Fast As I Can

Talking As Fast As I Can is Lauren Graham’s memoir, which discusses her time on the show (thus the name), as well as other projects she’s worked on. It’s a sweet and entertaining read, and is a perfect gift for fans of the show.

Someday, Someday Maybe

If you like Lauren Graham’s writing style, or you like to read as much as Rory, here is another book suggestion, also by Lauren Graham! Someday, Someday Maybe is a fun novel about a young women trying to make it as an actress in New York City in the 80’s.

Rory Reading List Books

For bookworms like Rory, any book from the Rory Reading List (or this book about the Rory reading list), would be a good gift. I personally bought Moby Dick, one of the very first books mentioned in the show, to use as a photo prop for my trip to Connecticut. I still haven’t attempted to actually read it yet though…

A “Rory Reads” Plaque

You might have to actually travel to Washington, CT to get this one. In my quick internet search, I could not find any “Rory Reads” plaques (as seen in the above photo) to link to this gift guide.

I personally have one on my bookshelf (next to all my books that Rory would approve of) that I picked up on our first Connecticut trip.

There are SO. MANY. shirts you could gift a fan of Gilmore Girls. I’m not going to include all of them here, so feel free to peruse Amazon or Etsy for some more choices, but here are the ones I own, plus my favorite choices out there!

A Film By Kirk

When I was watching the Netflix revival, and Babette and Morey proudly show off their “A Film By Kirk” shirts, I thought, “I want one!” And I immediately took to the internet to find one.

You can also get other iterations of this style, such as the #OG Babette Ate Oatmeal.

People usually stare confusedly at me when I wear this shirt, but Gilmore Girls fans will understand!

Dress Like Lorelai

This is one of my favorite Gilmore Girls T-shirts, and I would definitely buy one if I didn’t already own too many T-shirts…

Dress like Lorelai, think like Rory, cook like Sookie, rock like Lane, talk like Paris, love like Luke.

Stars Hollow T-Shirt

Another of my favorite options is a “Stars Hollow” T-shirt that looks like you visited the fictional town and picked up a shirt at the local (Taylor approved) souvenir shop. This Stars Hollow, Connecticut shirt is one of my favorites.

Cozy Core Shirts (& More!)

I’ve seen products from “A Vintage Joy” pop up a lot over the years, as I scour the earth for all things Gilmore Girls. She designs amazing merch, like lots of cozy, hand-embroidered sweatshirts, as well as T-shirts, mugs & more.

My Luke’s travel mug I took to Connecticut. And Canada. And Connecticut again.

There are so many great mugs you can gift to fans of Gilmore Girls. I personally have a Luke’s travel mug AND a Luke’s mug mug. Plus there’s the Dragonfly Inn mug mentioned above.

These make great photo props if you’re planning a Gilmore Girls themed trip. I may have waaaaay too many photos of my Luke’s mugs to choose from for this gift guide…

I bring my Luke’s travel mug everywhere (but unlike Lauren Graham, my prop cup is usually empty… Shhh…). I went with the classic design, but there are lots of options out there, like this cute tumbler.

Of course, you also need a regular Luke’s mug for your everyday coffee drinking at home. And I need one too… since my husband may have accidentally broken mine while doing the dishes… I’ll take this as an excuse to buy a whole new set of fandom themed mugs!

I bought this beautiful “I smell snow” mug as part of a Gilmore Girls themed gift box for my friend in a gift exchange. And she bought me the Daily Cravings cookbook. We know each other so well. :)

I was searching for a mug that said, “Coffee, coffee, coffee,” because I thought that would be hilarious, but instead, I found this adorable mug that says, “I drink coffee like a Gilmore Girl.” And I like this instead.

“I Smell Snow” Ornament

A perfect gift for the holiday season is an ornament for the tree! There are lots of different designs, but I think this “I smell snow” ornament is simple and beautiful (even if you’re not a fan of the show!).

“Stars Hollow” Scented Candles

I absolutely love candles! From candles that smell like Disney rides, to candles that tell what House you’re sorted into, to even just candles from Bath & Body Works, I love them all.

I included a candle that smelled like the winter carnival in my friend’s gift box, though that particular scent is no longer available. Worry not. There are plenty of Stars Hollow and Gilmore Girls scented candles to gift.

Vintage Travel Posters

I have a travel themed guest room. It’s also a “nerd” themed room, with photos from Hobbiton, and TV themed vintage travel posters from Gilmore Girls and Agents of Shield.

This is the Stars Hollow poster I have, but there are so many other beautiful ones to choose from, including one for the Dragonfly Inn, and one for the autumn festival!

Gilmore Girls Trivia Pack

I defy anyone who thinks they can beat me in this Gilmore Girls trivia card game! Or at least it’d be fun to try. Maybe throw a Gilmore Girls night, make all sorts of crazy food (from your cookbooks!), dress like Lorelai, and attempt the ultimate test of your GG knowledge!

Adult Coloring Book

Remember when adult coloring books were a craze? I have at least three, each of which have about one partial picture colored. But I still think I need to add this Gilmore Girls coloring book to my collection. Because it’s cool. Whether I use it or not (I’ll be honest… I just saw it in the “You might also like” section on Amazon, and I also like…).

Luke’s Mug Incense Burner

I just saw this product on Instagram, and I had to add it here (and to my Christmas list). It’s a wax melt/incense burner in the shape of a Luke’s coffee mug.

And then you get scented wax melts in the shape of coffee beans!!! And the wax melts come in amazing flavors like pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin pancakes!!! They also have Christmas scents, or a Thousand Yellow Daisies scent!

I may just have to go buy one right now…

Gift a Gilmore Girls Trip

One final section of my Gilmore Girls gift ideas is the gift of a trip! What better way to surprise your beloved Gilmore Girls fan than with a trip to the towns that inspired Stars Hollow?! Or a trip to the set of Stars Hollow!

Below are some ideas of Gilmore Girls themed trips you can take:

Connecticut

Take a Gilmore Girls road trip through Connecticut. Visit Washington Depot, and the other small towns that originally inspired the Independence Inn and Stars Hollow in the show. Explore Yale University and New Haven, CT, as well as the Mark Twain Museum in Hartford, where Amy Sherman-Palladino was visiting on the trip that inspired the show.

Canada

Canada is not the first place I think of when I think of Gilmore Girls. But Unionville, ON (just outside of Toronto) is actually where they filmed the pilot episode of the show! And even though it’s been (gasp!) 20+ years, there are still some recognizable landmarks. Plus, you can visit Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Niagara on the Lake, another small town full of Stars Hollow charm.

California

Most of the show was filmed in Los Angeles, CA, either on the Warner Bros. set, or on location around the city. You can read about all of the Gilmore Girls locations in the California section of my Gilmore Girls road trip article.
