After watching Bridgerton season 4, and seeing all of the influencers posting their pictures in Bath (where much of the first seasons were filmed), I decided I had to visit England and go to Bath (aaand I had to buy a new “Bridgerton” dress to wear too, obvi)!

But in my research I found there are a lot of Bridgerton London locations as well, so I made a point to try to visit as many of these as possible on my trip. So here is your complete guide to everything Bridgerton you can get up to in London and the surrounding areas!

Trip map created using Wanderlog, a road trip planner app on iOS and Android

Bridgerton Locations in London

There are only a few Bridgerton filming locations within the city of London itself, and honestly, most of them you can’t visit.

However, there are also fun Bridgerton-themed things to do in London! Plus there are several worthwhile filming locations that are easy to visit on a quick train or boat ride from the main city center.

Bridgerton Afternoon Tea

I am OBSESSED with the Scarlet Darkness dresses I got for my trip!
bridgerton-themed-afternoon-tea-in-london

I’m just going to come right out and start my Bridgerton London list with the themed afternoon tea I had at the Lanesborough Hotel!!!

This was literally my favorite thing ever. It was so magical and beautiful and delicious. And expensive. Uber, uber expensive. But absolutely worth it, in my opinion.

Lots of masquerade motifs for season 4 of Bridgerton.

They painted a little scene from the current season on the white chocolate piece!

The Lanseborough is a pretty fancy place, so you should dress nicely (maybe a Bridgerton themed dress? Just saying!).

You cannot take a professional camera into the dining room, but you can take photos (lots of photos!) with your cell phone. There is a complimentary coat check were you can leave all of your things while you enjoy tea.

Plan to spend at least an hour here. Afternoon tea is a sacred ordeal, and they take care to not rush you. Perhaps a bit too much care, in my opinion. But either way, take your time here. And if you don’t finish everything, you can get a box to take your extra food home.

St. James Piccadilly

This is a bit embarrassing to admit… But make sure you have the correct St. James church. Because I just looked up “St. James Church” on Google maps, and thought it was too far out of my way (London is big!) to visit. But as it turns out… I walked right past the actual church I wanted to visit.

So anyway, St. James Piccadilly was used as a filming location for Bridgerton season 2, as the venue for Anthony & Edwina’s (almost) wedding. You can visit the stunning inside sanctuary where it was filmed, attend a free concert, or try some international cuisine at their StreetFoodish market.

And since it’s located right in the middle of the best things to do in London, it’s actually very easy to visit!

  • The building is open for visitors Mondays & Tuesdays, and weekends.
  • The hours vary each day. It opens at 10 am, and closes between 4:30 and 6 pm.
  • The courtyard and garden are open daily.

The Reform Club

So… instead of visiting St. James Piccadilly (which you can actually visit), I walked past the Reform Club. Another Bridgerton London filming location… But one that you can’t visit the inside of unless you are a member.

The Reform Club is just that… the club where the gentlemen hang out on screen. And unless you’re a member (or a guest of a member), you can’t visit in real life either. So I mention this really to create a complete list of London Bridgerton locations, but not as a suggestion of somewhere to visit (but don’t worry; there are more!).

Lancaster House

view-of-lancaster-house-in-london-england

But before we get to other locations you can actually visit… One more mention is Lancaster House. This was used as a filming location for the inside of Queen Charlotte’s Palace. And it is stunning inside.

But… since it is an actual government building, you can’t get inside (unless you’re a multi-million dollar [or pound, I suppose] film crew). In fact, you can’t even see the outside, except through the trees (as pictured above). However, it is right next to Buckingham Palace and St. James Park, which is nice for a stroll (or to sit down and read the gorgeous copy of Bridgerton you just picked up in the bookstore).

And, as a consolation, you can visit where they filmed the outside of Queen Charlotte’s palace, which I’ll get to in a moment!

Chiswick House and Gardens

Chiswick House and Gardens have been used as a backdrop for many scenes throughout the Bridgerton series (though apparently which specific scenes, in this case, is supposed to be a secret…).

The gardens are free to enter, and are open daily from 7 am-dusk, year round. The house itself is only open in the summer months (late May-late September).

To get here from Central London, take the District Line to Turnham Green. It’s about a 20 minute walk from here, or you can take the E3 bus from the Underground station to Chiswick House.

  • Where to Stay in London
    • I stayed at Comfort Inn Victoria, just a couple minutes walk from Victoria Station.
    • I love this area; it’s the same neighborhood I stayed in before, close to the station, and easy access to everywhere in London!

Bridgerton Locations in Hampton Court

hampton-court-palace-viewed-from-the-gardens

Hampton Court is an easy half day trip from the city. It’s also where you will find Hampton Court Palace, the filming location for the outside of Queen Charlotte’s palace.

You can take a guided half day tour from London, or just head out on your own.

How to Get to Hampton Court Palace from London

It is very easy to get to Hampton Court Palace from London. You can take a direct train there from London Waterloo Station, that takes about 30-40 minutes. You do not need to purchase train tickets for this route; you can just tap in and tap out with either an Oyster Card or your credit card (read more about public transportation in London).

Once you arrive at the train station in Hampton Court, it’s just a couple minutes walk to the palace. Head out of the station and to the right. You will see a sign with an arrow pointing you across the bridge to Hampton Court Palace. It’s literally just across the bridge from the train station. You’ll be able to see the palace grounds from the bridge.

You can purchase tickets online ahead of time (I suggest doing this, if you can), or in the gift shop when you first arrive. Or if you book a guided tour from London, your tickets (and transportation) will be included. But since it’s so easy to navigate there on your own, I would suggest just taking the train.

How long do you need to visit Hampton Court Palace?

It takes about a half day to visit from London. It will be a 30-40 minute train ride there and back again. Plan to spend a couple of hours wandering the house and gardens. They are quite extensive, so you could stay for several hours, but I got tired of wandering around after a couple hours.

Hampton Court Palace

hampton-court-palace-with-tulips

It seems to be my curse to always arrive somewhere iconic when there is scaffolding covering it! When I visited Hampton Court Palace, the scaffolding kind of ruined the view from the gardens, which are one of the most recognizable filming locations.

But… the palace and grounds are HUGE! So I found plenty of amazing photo spots. I just wish I had had my tripod with me… Or maybe that I could clone myself so that I can be on both sides of the camera at the same time…

My favorite photo spot was “The Wilderness” garden. You can’t see the palace from there, but it is like stepping into a magical fairyland forest. Especially in spring, with all the flowering trees in bloom! It was so whimsical!

The Wilderness” gardens were gorgeous!

There are so many recognizable Bridgerton filming locations at Hampton Court Palace! From scenes promenading in the gardens, to royal afternoon teas in the courtyards, to Whistledown’s print shop.

My other “Bridgerton” dress I bought for my trip. 😀

I honestly ended up visiting here on accident… When I missed my tour bus to Highclere Castle

But I’m so glad that gave me time to visit Hampton Court Palace! It was definitely worth it. I just probably would have planned it a little better.

I visited here on a Sunday afternoon during the Tulip Festival, and it was very crowded. It was still definitely worth it though, but if you can visit earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon, that would be better for avoiding crowds. And especially not on a weekend, if you can help it.

  • Hampton Court Palace is open 10 am-5:30 pm most days.
  • They do close earlier in the winter, and also some days (usually Mondays and Tuesdays) they will close for restoration projects.
  • Check the opening hours here.
  • Pro Tip: Go back through the main sites at the beginning of the palace at the end of your visit (unless you come first thing in the morning). The courtyard after you first enter the palace was so crowded when I first got there, but when I went back through later I was able to get shots without any people in them.

Bridgerton Locations in Greenwich

View over Maritime Greenwich from the Royal Observatory.

It takes about 45 minutes by boat to get from central London to Greenwich, where there are multiple worthwhile Bridgerton locations, including the iconic Bridgerton family house.

You can do a guided walking tour to all the locations, or just visit the sites on your own.

How to Get to Greenwich from London

The easiest way to get to Greenwich from London is just to take a boat down the River Thames. There are multiple options for boats to Greenwich. I took the Uber Thames Clipper boat from Westminster Pier. The ride takes about 45 minutes to an hour.

You can take a sightseeing tour down the river, with a guide to point out all the sites and interesting facts as you travel, which would be a fun way to get to Greenwich.

Or just go on your own with the Thames Clipper. You don’t need to buy a ticket ahead of time; you can just tap in and out with an Oyster Card or credit card, just like the Underground (learn more about using London public transportation).

  • Pro Tip: I’ve learned to always travel with Dramamine. I tend to get motion sickness easily, especially on choppy water. I personally did not need it on this boat ride, but it’s always good to have, just in case!

If you don’t want to take the boat, you can also take a train from London. You can get the DLR Line from Bank Station in central London, which will then be about a 20 minute ride to Cutty Sark Station (note that you want to get off at Cutty Sark Station, not Greenwich Station).

Again, you do not need pre-booked tickets for this. You can just tap in and out.

How long do you need to visit Greenwich?

Plan about 1/2 a day in Greenwich, although you could spend the entire day here if you want to. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get the boat here from central London.

There is plenty to see in Greenwich; multiple Bridgerton filming locations, several free museums, and the Prime Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory! Plus, Greenwich is a cute small town that is fun to wander around and explore. I got here at the end of the day after most of the museums were closed, so I only spent a couple of hours here, but you could easily spend all day if you wanted to see everything.

Old Royal Naval College

a-building-of-the-old-royal-naval-college-in-greenwich

The first place to stop in Greenwich is the Old Royal Naval College. The campus is just up to the left when you get off the boat (all the big gorgeous buildings!). The first building is the Visitor Centre, where you can buy tickets or get a wristband if you pre-booked tickets online.

The grounds and chapel are free to access, so really the only reason to pay for a ticket is for entrance to the Painted Hall or if you’re interested in a guided tour. The hall is absolutely stunning, and worth seeing in my opinion. However, the grounds themselves are also completely stunning and worth photographing, whether or not you visit the Painted Hall.

Did I mention I love this dress??

There are guided tours offered throughout the day that are included with your admission ticket, so you can feel free to join one, or just wander around at your own pace.

You can also book a special “filming locations tour” that reveals the secrets of the Bridgerton episodes shot here, as well as other projects like The Crown and Pirates of the Caribbean. Currently this tour is being offered on Fridays and Saturdays.

The chapel were Colin and Penelope got married.

The grounds here can be seen in many episodes of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte, and the chapel (which is free to visit) was used as the filming location for Colin & Penelope’s wedding (a wedding that actually took place!).

  • The Painted Hall & Chapel are open 10 am-5 pm daily.
    • I booked my ticket for 4:15 pm, and had almost the whole place to myself!
  • The grounds are open 8 am-11 pm.

Queen’s House

the-queens-house-museum-in-greenwich

Queen’s House is an art museum with a stunning interior. And best of all… it’s free to visit! This museum was used as a filming location in Queen Charlotte for the Royal College of Physicians.

It is just across the street from the Old Royal Naval College, and right next door to the National Maritime Museum (also free!). You can see the Royal Observatory on the hill behind it.

  • Queen’s House is free to visit, and is open daily from 10 am-5 pm.
  • You can book an entry ticket online ahead of time, but can also just walk in the day of.

The Royal Observatory

the-greenwich-royal-observatory-on-a-hill-overlooking-queens-house
The Royal Observatory is at the top of the hill.

The Royal Observatory in Greenwich was not a filming location for Bridgerton, but fans of the book series will recognize this as the location of a major scene in the first book, so I figured it was worth including on this list. Not to mention it’s the site of the Prime Meridian, which is in itself pretty cool.

I did not visit inside the Royal Observatory, as I thought it was rather expensive (and also because I got there after 5…). Although I would have liked to stand on the Prime Meridian line! But I guess I stood right near the Prime Meridian.

It is quite a hike up the hill to reach the Royal Observatory, but the views are also stunning. Plus, as a bonus, now you’ve walked halfway to Bridgerton House, which is also quite the uphill hike.

  • The Royal Observatory is open daily 10 am-5 pm.
  • It is open until 6 or 7 pm during late spring and summer.

Bridgerton House

rangers-house-filming-location-for-bridgerton-house-in-greenwich

Not exactly as it appears in the show… the Bridgerton family house is not right across the street from the Featheringtons and surrounded by neighbors. In fact, the Featherington house was filmed at No. 1 Royal Crescent in Bath, and as the tour guide on my walking tour jokingly pointed out, when Penelope looks out the door and waves at Eloise… she is waving back to her 100 miles away.

It is actually Ranger’s House, an art museum with very limited hours. However, since it is really the outside we care about, do not let that deter you!

And don’t let the uphill walk deter you either!

How to Get to Bridgerton House in Greenwich

Bridgerton House, er… Ranger’s House is not right in the center of Maritime Greenwich like all the previous places. It took me about 15 minutes to walk from Queen’s House up the hill to Ranger’s House.

Behind Queen’s House are lots of walking paths. You will start heading up the hill toward the Royal Observatory (which you can see from here). But instead of going all the way up there, take the path that cuts across to the right. The path leads across a street and then uphill.

Keep following that path until you reach the gate for Greenwich Park. Go through the gate and keep following the foot path straight to Ranger’s House.

After you cross the street, head up the hill.

Walk through the gate at Greenwich Park. You can also walk up and around, but it’s faster to go through here.
  • If you want to visit inside Ranger’s House, it is open weekends from the end of May through the end of September, 11 am-4 pm.
  • Be sure to book tickets online ahead of time if you plan to tour inside.

Bridgerton Locations in Osterley

One final Bridgerton location that you can easily visit from London is Osterley Park House. I did not visit this filming location, but if you have time during your trip to London, you certainly can add it on.

How to Get to Osterley Park from London

The Piccadilly Line runs straight through Osterley on the way to Heathrow Airport. It will take about 30-40 minutes to get there from central London.

It is about 1 mile from the station to the main entrance to the house, but less than half a mile to the grounds, so it is fairly easy to walk from the station to Osterley Park.

Osterley Park

Osterley Park and House was used as a filming location for the Full Moon Ball in season 3. You can tour inside the house, or wander through the gardens and extensive parkland (a visit here will certainly help you get your steps in for the day!).

  • The house is open Wednesday-Sunday 11 am-3:30 pm.
  • The gardens are open 10 am-5 pm daily.
  • The park grounds are open 9 am-5 pm daily.
  • Tickets are purchased upon arrival, and cannot be pre-booked.

Other Bridgerton Locations

If you’re planning a Bridgerton themed trip to England, here are some other places to check out!

Bath

Bath is one of the best Bridgerton locations to visit in all of England! And the best part is it’s an easy day trip from London. You can take a guided Bridgerton tour of Bath from London, or just take the train on your own. Just get a direct train from London Paddington to Bath Spa (typically just over an hour).

I visited Bath from London and stayed overnight at the Royal Hotel (literally just across the street from the train station), but you can easily visit all the sites on a day trip without spending the night if you’d prefer.

Around England

pride-and-prejudice-filming-location-belton-house
Belton House was used as a filming location for Queen Charlotte, and Pride & Prejudice!

Though most of the current filming is now done in studio, there are literally TONS of places all over England that have been used as Bridgerton backdrops. I think the main places you should visit are around London and Bath, but if you really want to go all in on a Bridgerton tour of England, there are plenty of other places to see!

So I’m just going to leave this list here as a quick reference for some of the best places you can visit around the country (or check out this full list of filming locations):

I hope you find this guide helpful as you plan your own Bridgerton London trips! I know I had so much fun with mine. If only I had more time (and money…) to visit everywhere!
